The incisions for the breast augmentation surgery are only small, just an inch. This is because the breast implant’s content is liquid or gel that makes it easier for it to be inserted to small incisions.
Depending on the patient, there are 3 places where incisions can be made during a breast augmentation plastic surgery. The first is underneath the breast a few millimeters above the breast crease. The second is in the lower line of the areola. The third is within the armpit.
There is no known statistics which among the three are being used by most plastic surgeons but many patients choose to have their incisions in the armpit because doesn’t have mammary glands and very sensitive nerves like the breasts and the areola.
After the incision, the plastic surgeon will put the breast implant either directly behind the layers of tissue in the breast or deeper—near the chest wall. The placement of the breast implant will also depend on the patient’s condition.
Since the incisions are only 1 inches long, the stitches and the bleeding will are reduced. This makes breast augmentation procedure less time-consuming compared to other plastic surgery procedures.
